New Artist Alert – Kate Hadley

Kate Hadley, born in 2001, came from Wollondilly in New South Wales and now works in Sydney. She paints in oils from her family's photograph archive, chasing the curiosity of childhood and the way memory both surfaces and slips.

Weddings, birthdays, holidays — the ordinary occasions people gather for — are her recurring subjects, and she uses them to ask how those rituals shape who we take ourselves to be. The work hangs upstairs at The Fenwick; the dining room is below it.
